General Nutritional Information For Health, Fat Reduction, and Physical Performance

The basis of this very generalized article is to provide you with an overview of nutritional applications for the enhancement of your health and more importantly your ability to perform in life and at work. When you enhance the bodies ability to perform the net result is always physical improvement. I will also give a basic overview of dieting and common diets used today. When you understand nutrition and exercise you can more fully utilize you time and efforts to improve both your physical self as well as your lifestyle.

First I will cover the more common diets: Atkins diet (high protein, very low-carb), Calorie Counting, and The South Beach Diet. I've chosen these three because they are the most well-known diets today and will give us good reference points. The Atkins Diet is simply a high protein and very low carb meal plan. Of the three I believe this is the most effective for weight loss. However no emphasis is placed on health and therefore I don't not feel this is a good diet. Calorie Counting is the practice of eating less calories than you currently eat. This works but does little to improve health, energy, look of the physique, and is almost impossible to maintain long-term. The South Beach Diet is essentially a Mediterranean diet and of the three the best for health as it emphasizes eating healthy things as a main portion of the diet. It does however include way too many carbs for my taste.

Now I'll tell you what I believe to be the best method for dieting which I call Physique Enhancement Nutrition Planning. Basically it is a form of eating that emphasizes consuming healthy foods that promote muscle density and recovery which always results in a higher metabolism and a body that is more satisfying. There are some no's though and they are little or no sugar or starch. No trans or saturated fats except what little is found in lean cuts of beef or skinless chicken. What should you eat? Eat lean protein every 2-3 hours! Also include as many vegetables and whole grains as possible. Lastly focus on a high water intake and consume healthy fats i.e. olive oil. When you combine eating to improve performance along with a solid resistance training plus a cardiovascular program it is in fact guaranteed that you will loose fat and improve your physical appearance as well as how you work, feel, and sleep.
